Receiving packages in the PitneyTrack mobile app

You can use the PitneyTrack mobile app on a Tracking Assistant to receive packages into PitneyTrack Inbound.

You can use the PitneyTrack mobile app on a Tracking Assistant to receive packages into PitneyTrack Inbound.

The features and options you see may vary depending upon your role and subscription. If you have any questions regarding your permissions, please contact your administrator.

  1. Sign in to the PitneyTrack mobile app.
  2. If prompted, select your Location.
  3. Tap Receive.
  4. Use one of the following methods to enter the tracking number:
    • Tap the scan icon and align the box over the barcode. The barcode is scanned automatically.
    • Tap in the field and type the tracking number.
    • Tap the + next to the Tracking Number field to generate a tracking number.
    To add additional packages for the same recipient, tap Scan More, then repeat.
  5. If the carrier is not already filled in, tap the Carrier field and select the carrier.
    Note: If you scan more than one package for the same recipient, the Carrier menu will not be visible.
  6. If the recipient is not already filled in, tap the Recipient field and select the recipient. If the recipient is not in the system, add them:
    1. Enter the first and last name separated by a space.
    2. Tap the Add icon or Add New.
    3. Add as Recipient will already be selected. If you want to add the person as a sender instead, select Add as Sender.
    4. Complete the remaining fields.
    5. Tap Submit.
  7. If the sender is not already filled in, tap the Sender field and select the sender. If the sender is not in the system, add them:
    1. Enter the first and last name of the sender separated by a space.
    2. Tap the Add icon.
    3. Add as Sender will already be selected. If you want to add the person as a recipient instead, select Add as Recipient.
    4. Tap Submit.
    Note: If you scan more than one package for the same recipient, the Sender will not be visible.
  8. The status defaults to Received. To change the status, tap Received.
  9. If needed, tap the Location field to change the location.
    • If Use 'Given To' person's location as the package location is checked (under Settings > Delivery), the package location will be set to the Given To person's location. If it is not checked, the package location will be set to the user's location.
  10. If the package arrived damaged, select Arrived Damaged.
    Note: If you scan more than one package for the same recipient, the Arrived Damaged option will not be visible.
  11. To place the package in a locker:
    1. Select Reserve Locker. If the recipient already has a reserved locker, you are prompted to either add the new package to the existing locker or select a new locker.
    2. Tap Locker Bank, select the desired bank(s), and tap Done.
    3. Tap Locker Size, select the desired locker size, and tap Done.
  12. (Optional) Enter any additional comments in the Comments field.
  13. If custom fields have been created, complete them as instructed by your administrator.
  14. To add photos:
    1. Tap Attach in the upper right.
    2. Select the option for how you want to add the photo.
    3.  If you select Take Photo, aim the camera at the package, then tap the camera icon to capture the image.
      • To add more photos (limit 5), aim the camera and tap the camera icon again.
      • To delete a photo, tap it, press and hold to select it, tap the trash can icon.
    4. Once all photos have been taken, tap Done.

    Note: When uploading images using the Take Photo with Camera option, the photos are not retained in the device gallery / camera roll. When uploading images from the gallery / camera roll, the images will remain on the device.

  15. Select Save to save and move to the next package without printing a label. To save the package, print a label, and move to the next package, tap the arrow next to Save, then select Save & Print or Save & Print Multiple Copies. You can print up to 100 labels.
