Set up a wired network connection on your meter using a USB Ethernet adapter:

Follow these steps to install a wired connection using a USB Ethernet adapter:
Network setup
Your meter can be set to automatically get an IP address from your network's DHCP server (this is the most common setup), or to have a static IP address (required on some networks). To determine the correct settings for your network, contact your IT department or service provider.
Automatically get an IP address (DHCP) on your meter:
Your meter is already set up with a default DNS server. If your network requires your meter to use a custom DNS server, contact your IT department to obtain the server information, and then follow these steps:
Physical installation
Follow these steps to install a wired connection using a USB Ethernet adapter:
- Turn your meter off.
- Remove any phone cords connected to your meter.
- Plug your meter's Ethernet cable into a network plug on the wall.
- Attach the USB Ethernet adapter to the other end of your Ethernet cable.
- Plug your USB Ethernet adapter into one of the USB ports on the back of your meter.
- Turn your meter on.
- When the Mail Run screen returns, the LEDs (lights) on the USB Ethernet adapter light up or flicker within 15 seconds. [This indicates that you have a connection to the network.]
- Press Menu.
- Press Page Down twice.
- Select Data Center Options.
- Press the Page Down.
- Ensure that the Connection Mode is set to Auto.
Network setup

- Press Menu.
- Press the Page Down twice.
- Select Data Center Options.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Get IP.
- Select Automatically.
- Contact your IT department to obtain your IP address.
- Press Menu.
- Press Page Down twice.
- Select Data Center Options.
- Select Network Settings.
- Select Get IP
- Select Specify Address Manually.
- Select IP Addr and enter your IP address.
- Select Subnet and enter your subnet mask.
- Select Gateway and enter the gateway.
Your meter is already set up with a default DNS server. If your network requires your meter to use a custom DNS server, contact your IT department to obtain the server information, and then follow these steps:
- Press Menu.
- Press the Page Down twice.
- Select Data Center Options.
- Select Distributor Settings.
- Press Page Down.
- Select Primary DNS or Secondary DNS.
- Select Continue.
- Select Edit Options.
- Enter your DNS server.
- Select OK.
- Select Accept.
- Press Home to return to the home screen
