Printing an exported mailing list in Envelope Designer plus with ConnectRight Mailer

Envelope Designer Plus is a separate application that attaches to a mail list exported from ConnectRight Mailer.

Before you begin

Before you format and design your envelope you will need to export and attach a mailing list.

 There are two methods to attach to an exported list:

  • Export the list and have ConnectRight Mailer automatically launch Envelope Designer Plus and attach to the exported list.
    • To automatically launch Envelope Designer Plus after export, see : Exporting Mailing List for further information.
  • Export the list and then manually attach to the exported list using Envelope Designer Plus.
    1. To manually attach to the exported list, make note of where you stored your exported mailing list and launch Envelope Designer Plus.
    2. After you open Envelope Designer Plus, Select File and click Attach to Mail List.
    3. Browse to your exported mailing list and click Open.

After your mailing list is attached select a printer.

Select an envelope size and return address

  1. Select the Envelope Size menu and select one of the predefined envelopes or select Custom to define your own envelope size.
    • Note: Custom envelopes that do not conform to USPS width and length limits may be subject to a surcharge.
  2. Double-click the return address text on the envelope to enter a return address.
  3. Select a font size and type and enter the return address in the text box.
  4. Click OK.

Add a custom message to your envelope

Including a message line on your envelope enables you to notify your customers of upcoming events or special promotions.

  1. Select Edit and click Add Message.
  2. Select a font type and size and select a rotation option.
    • Selecting a rotation enables you to offset and position your text to gain more attention.
  3. Click OK.
    • Double click on the text to reopen to edit the message.
  4. Click and drag the message to place it in the required position on the envelope.

Add a graphic to your envelope

Adding a graphic to your envelope will add visual interest and increase the chances of your mailing will be opened by the recipient.

  1. Select Edit and click Add Graphic.
  2. Select an image from your hard drive or network location.
    • Note: The supported file types are: .bmp,.dib, .pcx, .gif, .tif, .jpg.
  3. Go to the image location and click Open.

    • Note: If the image does not appear, ensure that the file is a supported graphic type.
  4. Click on the image and resize it using the image handles or click and drag the image to move it to the required location.

Add a destination address

  1. Double-click the recipient address text to open the dialog window.
  2. Delete the instruction text and click Insert Field to select the merge fields from your address list.
  3. All fields that were exported from ConnectRight Mailer will appear.
  4. Select all fields you want to include in the recipient's address (such as name, address, city, state, zip and zip4), and click Insert.
  5. Click Done.
  6. Format the address block:
    • Press the Enter key after any field to move the remaining fields to the next line
    • Add spaces and punctuation to format your address
    • Apply a font type and size
  7. Click OK.

Add Intelligent Mail Barcode

  1. Double-click the barcode to launch the Barcodes window.
  2. Select the radio button Intelligent Mail® Barcode then click Setup to define the barcode settings.
  3. Select the radio button All barcode information is in this field.
  4. Select either the barcode or imb_encode field from the menu.
  5. Click OK then OK again to save your settings.

Print Mail

  1. Click Data/Design Mode.
  2. Click Print to open the printer window.

  3. Select the Properties button to change the default printer driver settings ( speed, quality, orientation).
  4. Select an option from the Print Range section.
  5. Click OK.
