Resolving envelope feeder paper issues on the DI900 or DI950 FastPac Inserting Systems
This page helps resolve issues that occur in your DI900 or DI950 Inserter's Envelope Feeder area.
For troubleshooting tips, find your problem in the following list of issues.
- Materials fold correctly but get caught on the side of envelope
- Materials fold incorrectly and get caught on the side of envelope
- Material jammed in envelope feeder
- Envelopes crumple when entering feeder
- Materials catch on or split the throat of the envelope
TIP: Jams and crooked folds may start in a different area of the machine than where the issue is discovered. Check upstream areas of the machine for possible sources of your issue.
Issue: Materials fold correctly but get caught on the side of envelope
Possible causes and solutions:
- Misaligned feeder side guides - The guides keep insert material straight as it travels through the system. Over time, the guides may shift and impede insertion.
- Incorrectly set envelope openers - Set envelope openers so that the collation can enter the envelope. Learn how to adjust the envelope openers .
Issue: Materials fold incorrectly and get caught on the side of envelope
Possible causes and solutions:
- Look for fold issues upstream - This problem may originate in one of the modules before the folder. Check there before considering other causes.
- Misaligned feeder side guides - The guides keep insert material straight as it travels through the system. Over time, the guides may shift and impede insertion. Learn how to clear envelopes from the vertical envelope transport .
- Poor roller condition - Toner build-up or worn edges can diminish the roller’s ability to grasp or drive the material correctly. Visually inspect the roller and clean or replace if necessary.
- Incorrectly set envelope openers - Set envelope openers so that the collation can enter the envelope. Learn how to adjust the envelope openers .
Issue: Material jammed in envelope feeder
Possible causes and solutions:
- Misaligned feeder side guides - The guides keep insert material straight as it travels through the system. Over time, the guides may shift and impede insertion.
- High Capacity Envelope Feeder (HCEF) separator gap adjustment - The HCEF separator gap sets the spacing between the envelope feed roller and separator roller. If this setting is off it can cause envelopes to feed doubles or get stuck in the vertical transport section.
- Envelope backstop - The envelope backstop helps move envelopes into correct position on the high capacity envelope feeder.
