Step 2: Replace the ink cartridge
- Press Menu.
- Press Review (down) until the message Use ink functions? displays and press Enter/yes.
- Press Review (down) until the message Replace ink cartridge? displays and press Enter/yes
- Lift the control panel and locate the ink cartridge (see ink cartridge in white circle on image).
- Press the unlock icon to open the ink cartridge latch as shown in the image.
- Tilt the old ink cartridge toward you and lift it out. Discard the old cartridge.
- Remove the new cartridge from its packaging and pull off the protective tape covering the vent and ink holes as shown below.
- Insert the new ink cartridge by tilting it towards you and then insert it into print head. Straighten the cartridge into an upright position.
- Press down on the ink cartridge latch until it locks into place.
- Close the machine cover. Press Enter/yes.
- Press Enter/yes to confirm the replacement. Wait while the system performs an initialization.
- When prompted, insert an envelope or tape sheet to print a test pattern.
- The test pattern should look like the sample below (no missing lines). If it does, then press Enter/yes.
Good Test Print - If the test pattern looks like the sample below (missing lines), then press No and refer to Poor print quality or no printing.
Poor Test Print
