Installing and configuring a Brother QL-800 printer for SendPro Enterprise stamp roll printing

Learn how to install and configure a Brother QL-800 printer for SendPro Enterprise stamp roll printing.

SendPro Enterprise supports stamp roll printing on Windows only.

Download the printer driver

  1. Go to support.brother.com.
  2. Select Downloads.
  3. Enter the model number of the printer, QL-800, and select Search.
  4. Select QL-800 Downloads on our Online Solution Center.
  5. Select the correct operating system, then select Search.
  6. The printer driver should be listed. Select Printer Driver to download the printer driver.
  7. Select Agree to the EULA and Download. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Downloads folder.

Install the driver and connect the printer

  1. Go to your computer's Downloads folder and double-click on the downloaded file.
  2. In the Open File Security Warning box, select OK or Run.
  3. Choose QL-800 in the Select Model window.
  4. Click OK.
  5. The next prompt welcomes you to the Brother Printer Driver Installer. Select Next.
  6. When prompted to connect the USB cable between the Brother printer and the computer, connect the USB cable.
  7. Connect the power cord.
  8. Turn the printer on and wait a few seconds.
  9. Press and hold the Editor Lite button on the printer until the green light above the Editor Lite button turns off.
  10. Select Next.

Configure the printer driver

In this section, you will be directed to set the paper size in two different places. This is to ensure that the settings will apply to all users.

  1. Open the Control Panel by selecting the Windows Flag (Start Menu) on the computer and typing Control Panel and select the app.
  2. Right-click on the QL-800 printer (usually named "Brother QL-800) driver.
  3. Select Printer Preferences.
  4. In the window that appears, ensure the Basic tab is selected at the top, then update the following settings:
    • Paper Size: 2.4" x 1.1"
    • Orientation: Portrait
  5. Select the Apply button at the bottom, then select the OK button.
  6. Right-click on the QL-800 printer driver(usually named "Brother QL-800).
  7. Select Printer Properties.
  8. In the Printer Properties window, select the Advanced tab from the top tabs.
  9. In the lower left of the Advanced tab, select the Printing Defaults button.
  10. In the window that appears, update the following settings:
    • Paper Size: 2.4" x 1.1"
    • Orientation: Portrait
  11. Select the Apply button at the bottom, then select the OK button.

The settings should now be updated on the printer and labels should print without issues.

Optional Configuration - Disable Auto Power Off

  1. Go to support.brother.com.
  2. Select Downloads.
  3. Enter the model number of the printer, QL-800, and select Search.
  4. Select QL-800 Downloads on our Online Solution Center.
  5. Select the correct operating system, then select Search.
  6. Under Utilities, select Printer Setting Tool.
  7. Select Agree to the EULA and Download. The file will be downloaded to your computer's Downloads folder.
  8. Go to your Downloads folder and open the file you just downloaded. The installer will begin automatically.
  9. When the installer says Installation complete, select Finish.
  10. Go to Windows Start > All Programs > Brother > Label & Mobile Printer > Printer Setting Tool.
  11. Select Device Settings.
  12. From the Auto Power On menu, select On.
  13. From the Auto Power Off(AC/DC) menu, select None.
  14. Select Apply.
  15. Select Exit.
  16. Select Exit again.

Load the label roll

The Brother QL-800 printer uses the SL-SPM02 Postage Roll or the SL-SPM12 Postage Roll for stamp printing in SendPro Enterprise.

  1. Turn the label printer off.
  2. Hold the label printer by the front and firmly lift the roll compartment cover to open it.
  3. Remove the protective sheet from the label output slot.
  4. Place the roll into the roll spool guides.
  5. Thread the roll through the label printer.
  6. Push the labels through the label output slot until at least one inch of the label is visible.
  7. Close the roll compartment cover.
  8. Press the power button to turn the label printer on. The end of the roll aligns automatically.

Transition from SL-SPM02 roll stock to SL-SPM12 roll stock
