Try replacing your ink cartridge to improve your print quality.
The franking machine works on an ink drop system to determine when ink is low or depleted.
- When the Low Ink message appears, order a replacement ink cartridge.
- When the Ink Out message appears and the orange LED blinks, the ink supply is depleted and the franking machine will not print. Replace the ink cartridge immediately.

- Press Menu / Options.
- Press Review (down) until Use ink functions? appears.
- Press Enter/yes.
- Press Review (down) until Replace ink cartridge? appears
- Press Enter/yes
- Open the top cover and locate the printhead.
- Lift the top cover and locate the ink cartridge.
- Press the unlock icon to open the ink cartridge latch.
- Tilt the old ink cartridge toward you and lift it out. Discard the old cartridge.
- Remove the new cartridge from its packaging and pull off the protective tape covering the vent and ink holes as shown below.
- Insert the new ink cartridge by tilting it towards you and then insert it into printhead. Straighten the cartridge into an upright position.
- Press down on the ink cartridge latch until it locks into place.
- Close the machine cover. Press Enter/yes.
- Press Enter/yes to confirm the replacement. A printhead initialisation process occurs for two to three minutes.
- When prompted, insert an envelope or tape sheet to print a test pattern.
- The test pattern should look like the sample below (no missing lines). If it does, press Enter/yes.
Good Test Print - If the test pattern looks like the sample below (missing lines), press No and refer to Cleaning the Printer Nozzles.
Poor Test Print
- The test pattern should look like the sample below (no missing lines). If it does, press Enter/yes.
