Downloading new postal rates on the DM50, DM55

An Post periodically changes the postal rates. If new rates are available, you can download them onto your franking machine from the Pitney Bowes Data Centre.

The display tells you when a Rate Change update is complete. It also tells you if the update is immediate or takes effect at a later date by listing the new date. Once the effective date is reached, the franking machine automatically switches to the new rates.

Important: This update can take up to 10 minutes to complete. During peak periods, heavy network traffic may require several connection attempts.

1. Make sure that your system is connected via SmartLink™ or via PC Meter Connect in order to communicate with the Pitney Bowes Data Centre.
2. At the home screen, press Funds.
3. Press Review (Down) to scroll to Check balance available?
4. Press Enter/Yes.
5. Once the franking machine connects to Pitney Bowes, Checking PBP Account Balances appears.
6. Prepaid €xx.xx (the balance of your PB Postage account) appears.
7. Press Enter/Yes.
8. Refill Postage? appears. Press No.
9. At this point, if the franking machine returns to the home screen, it is likely that the new rates have already downloaded.
10. The franking machine checks for updates and SYSTEM UPDATE REQUIRED – Please Wait appears.
11. Press Enter/Yes and follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the new rates.
12. Once complete, Download complete Continue – press enter appears. Press Enter/Yes.
13. During the call: Rate data installed appears. Press Enter/Yes.
14. Press Enter/Yes to print a download report. Otherwise, press No to return to the home screen.
